Film Poster for horror film

.

This is my finished poster for my horror film 'truth'.
I think this is an effective image and works well with the horror theme.
For the image of the person with the hand over their mouth I set the blending mode for the image to 'divide' so that the image would have a dark and gloomy effect behind it to make it look more creepy.
For the title I added a drop shadow which was black with made the colour overlay of red stand out with the dark background and also added a red outer glow to the title to make it more realistic and have the colours contrast with the dark background.
I think these effects worked well with the photo as they made the image look scary and gloomy which gelled wiht the genre of a horror.
For the next time I do a film poster I think I need to take a bigger range of photo's so that i have a wider range to choose from when deciding which picture looks best to use. Also I would use more of the effects and change a few more things like the colour blends and the contrasts with the background so try and get some mroe colours in and add more effect to the image.
However, I think it is a good first attempt at a horror film poster and works well with the different effects and decisions which I made in order to create the image.

This is the image I took on the camera and decided to have as my main image on my film poster for a horror film.
Above is my finished image for my film poster and you can see the before and after image after all the effects were added

Rule Of Thirds

I used the rule of thirds in this image to try and catch the main point and centre of this tree to show its different colours and the nature of the tree.
This image is a rule of thirds  because the car is the main image and its regestration plate is in the centre of the picture and is one of the main parts of the car.

This image is a rule of thirds because the centre of the image of the three people walking and all 3 of their bags are in the middle of the third section making it a thirds.
Thirds are shown in this image when the words 'sports centre' are the mian centre of the image and everything around it for example the windows are also in the thirds section and also the bushes at the front of the image are out of focus more than the 'sports centre'.
This image expresses the rule of thirds by the main image being of the camera and the lense facing my camera and it being right in the centre of the shot.
This image used thirds where the centre of the image is of the red flower and its stem. In which the stem is the only thing in the image which is in focus as well as being the the thirds section.
This image uses the rule of thirds with the front end of the motorbike in the thirds middle section aswell as the mans body where as the drivers head is in the top section and the back end of the motorbike is in the right hand side of the of the thirds section. Also the flowers at the front of the image are shown in the bottom right corner of the thirds section which make them stand out a bit more.

Experimenting

In this lesson we were asked to go out and take 7 pictures. 1 with a narrow depth of field. 1 with a broad depth of field. 2 portrait pictures. And then 3 pictures with a connotation of joy, love and fear.
Here are my 7 photos.

This is a broad depth of field. I chose to do an image down the corridor to show the broad depth of field so that then I could take another with a narrow depth of field and show the differences between the 2 photographs I took down the same corridor.

This is a narrow depth of field. From looking at the broad depth of field you can see the contrasts in the 2 photographs and the out of sink images to show a contrast in the different depths of fields.

These 2 image were taken  portrait. I chose to do 2 images of people to show off the portrait image as it would come across as a better staged image rather than if i had taken it down the corridor because you can see the different sized images compared to the other images I have taken where they were taken landscape.

This is the picture I shown with a connotation of love. I think it represents love as a red rose is something you give to someone you love on valentines day, and the colour red shows love as its the colour of a heart. Also flowers can be given as a gift for someone you love, as they can bring happiness to people.

This is the picture I shown with a connotation of fear. I chose this because this is a common fear somebody could have of heights. Also looking down off a high platform to a lower level may cause fear to someone as they think they're going to fall, so showing a height off a tall platform I associate with a connotation of fear.

This is the image I shown with a connotation of joy. I chose this because some people have hobbies of being fit and healthy and going to the gym. So whilst being in a college having a gym on site may bring joy to someone so that they can go there after there lessons with there friends and keep fit, which is why i associated it with being a connotation of joy. People enjoy going to the gym
